Will show up in May to go with movie

Rumors of a Star Trek game to be released as a tie-in with the new movie that is to be released soon have now been confirmed. Rumors of an upcoming game had been circling since an included advertisement alluded to an upcoming game to be released.

The name of the new title is Star Trek D-A-C which will arrive sometime in May for download on both Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. At some point after the game is released for the Xbox and PlayStation 3, a Windows version will also be made available, but it is unknown how the Windows version will be distributed.

According to what we have been able to find out, the game itself is inspired by the new movie, but looks to be a top down shooter that has a bit of a retro feel but offers next generation graphics. The game is said to offer the playability to take command and play in online multi-player and co-op modes. Support for up to 12 players is offered in the online modes.

In each mode, players will be able to choose from three different play modes while at the same time being able to select from a variety of ships, all while battling the Romulan Empire. Each ship in the game will offer different abilities that will need to be mastered in order to obtain victory.

While we know that the game will launch in May for the Xbox and PlayStation 3, the exact date and pricing have yet to be announced. The game itself was developed by Naked Sky Entertainment for Paramount Digital Entertainment.
