Sports Resort also announced and dated

The Wii MotionPlus add-on accessory can be added to the Wii Nunchaku for an additional $19.99 and will allow for more exact and granular control when using the controller. It will break cover in the U.S. on retailer shelves starting on June 8th.

In addition to the Wii MotionPlus add-on, the company also announced Wii Sports Resort that will arrive on July 26th that will be available by itself for $19.99 or $49.99 when bundled with the Wii MotionPlus add-on. Those outside the U.S. and Japan will have to wait a little longer, as Nintendo does not expect to have the MotionPlus available until at some point in July. Nintendo claims that developers already have the MotionPlus and are looking at ways of integrating the technology into upcoming titles.

The problem with the Wii MotionPlus might be more of a cost issue than anything else. With a fully loaded Wii remote priced at $80 with the MotionPlus added to it, the price could drive some consumers from the purchase just because of the cost to equip multiple remotes at almost $20 per remote. In addition, we think it is likely that future software support will have more to do with the popularity of the MotionPlus than anything else in the end.
