Ten thousand in two weeks
Asustek's low cost Eee PC notebook is going from one strength to another, and a recent survey by Amazon and CNET places the Eee at the top of America's Christmas wish list.
The biggest trouble for Asus seems to be churning out enough Eee PCs to meet growing demand. The company claims that it has sold 10,000 units in the U.S. in the first two weeks of sales. Globally, the company plans to sell 35,0000 units by the end of the year, and anywhere from 3 to 5 million next year.
The Eee is also proving popular in the U.S. education market. The Fresno, California Unified School District has purchased 1,300 units already. It plans to use them as training aids for teachers and students alike. Students have praised the notebook for its lightweight, compact design.
