Mythic offers free transfers to another server

The Warhammer MMO from Mythic will be losing 63 servers that are so called “low-population” servers. 43 of these servers are run by Mythic themselves in North America and an additional 20 servers that are in Europe are run by GOA.

Mythic has been offering free transfers off these servers for several months as the company attempts to consolidate players to populated servers. Warhammer players have been dwindling from a high of 750,000 at launch to around 300,000 earlier this year.

According to Mythic, the final character transfers were completed yesterday in the U.S. and the process is already underway in Europe. Once the transfers are completed, servers will be closed. The complete list of servers that will be closed is listed on the Warhammer Web site.

With the player vs. player dynamics that Warhammer Online has, it is essential that the servers are well populated and the lack of fully populated servers can lead to a less than satisfactory gaming experience. It is unknown at this time if this will be the last of the server closings for Warhammer Online, but we suspect that if the number of players continues to dwindle the longevity for the title can’t be good.
