Depsite reports, it will show this year

Those who have been looking forward to the new post-apocalyptic action driving shooter from id Software should only have to wait till some point before the end of the year. id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead let it slip in an interview over the weekend that Rage should make it out the door this year.

Normally, id Software does not talk about release dates and operates under the philosophy that titles will ship when they are done and that is that. Conflicting reports suggested that Rage will not make it out the door this year which would certainly be a blow to the developer. Id currently just released the in browser game Quake Live and also have a Wolfenstein title that the company has been executive producing in conjunction with Raven Software.

Id is also said to be in the very early stages of development for Doom 4. Rumors continue that id might also be looking at other possible platforms to extend their titles to, including the iPhone. Of course, no information has been released yet, but it is thought that the company will have more specifics to say regarding future development during their annual QuakeCon event that is slated for mid-August.
