Rockstar expected to break two before long

The decision by Rockstar to produce an exclusive Xbox 360 only downloadable add-on called the The Lost and the Damned appears to be paying off, as the title has already pushed through the one million sold barrier and should break two million before the end of the year.

It would appear that Grand Theft Auto IV fans can’t get enough of the title, and the downloadable content has extended the sales beyond perhaps what the publisher had hoped. The company has not yet indicated whether the sales numbers that the exclusive content have produced are enough to see the company continue to branch out in offering this type of episode add-on content in the future.

Fans of the series should be excited to know that the studio is already hard at work on the second episode that will be exclusive for the Xbox 360, and it should likely be ready for players to download in November just short of the end of the fiscal year for the company. Little is known yet as to the details of the second episode, but it is expected that the company should announce more details in the E3 time frame.

Calling the Lost and the Damned just another add-on to enhance replay value for the title would, in fact, sell this episode short. In our first-hand experience playing it, it really is much more involved than almost any additional content that we have seen a publisher produce in the past. In fact, it really is a well put together new chapter in GTA IV that is worth checking out if you are a GTA fan.
