Mandatory update will address the problem

As we told you about yesterday, it seems that Microsoft is, in fact, listing to all of the gripes that have been leveled at them over the recent problems surrounding at the last dashboard update and issues that some are having with audio over HDMI connections.

Microsoft will be deploying the fix as a mandatory dashboard update that will be available starting Tuesday morning at approximately 0200 Pacific Time. According to our sources the update is very small and will only take a couple of seconds to download and install.

While our sources are not saying what the exact nature of the fix is, but we are told that it only addresses the HDMI audio issues and it contains no other additional fixes.

While many users have complained about this issue for some time, it is surprising that it took Microsoft almost two months to address the issue. Still, it is better late than never, and it is said to solve the problem which is the important thing. What we would like to know is what exactly caused the problem and why it took this long to admit the problem and push a patch out to resolve it?
