Owners complain of no solution from Microsoft

If you have been reading the Xbox 360 forums as of late, you can see threads that seem to go on forever with owners complaining of dead audio over HDMI connections that seems to have emerged around the same time as the Xbox Live Fall update.

According to various reports, many owners claim that the audio over their HDMI connections was working fine until the Xbox Live Fall update applied itself, and now the audio is as dead as it can get. Some users have also complained of video issues over their HDMI connections, as well, but this seems to be a much rarer problem than what has become known as the “HDMI Audio” issue.

In this thread multiple users complain of calls to Microsoft support that have yielded no results. In fact, some users say that Microsoft reps have tried to blame the problem on non-compliant HDMI inputs on their display device. Some reps have suggested that the issue is with the displays not properly following the HDMI standard and that there is no actual problem with the Xbox 360 or the Fall update that Microsoft applied.

While we have not seen this issue ourselves, the reports from owners do appear to be quite convincing and it would appear that it is something that Microsoft needs to look into. As of now there has been no word from Microsoft, so it is difficult to say if there is an actual problem or not.

While there are noted compatibility problems between Blu-ray disc players and some HDMI connections, most manufacturers have offered consumers fixes to address the issue. Sometimes the player has been at fault and other times it was the actual display device that was at fault. Stay tuned, as Xbox 360 owners having this issue are becoming heated, as things did work before the update and they are understandably upset that Microsoft isn’t talking about if there is or is not an actual issue.
