The ABC media soap drama, Grey’s Anatomy, will get a video game adaptation that Ubisoft is planning for release in early 2009 for the Nintendo DS, Wii, and PC platforms.

From what we have been able to uncover, the story will focus on allowing players to interact with an original story line that has been developed just for the game in an effort to balance both personal and professional lives while at the same time performing surgeries.

While the decision for Ubisoft to bank on a Grey’s Anatomy-based video game as being successful is a bit puzzling, perhaps it is not when you look at the platforms where the title will appear. We have to ask the question at this point why anyone would want to play a game like this, but it is possible that it could tap into the female audience that continues to be underserved by software developers.

Still, we just don’t really think that this is going to be a smash hit, even with the selection of platforms where the game will appear. Sometimes we just don’t know what the publishers and developers are thinking with their choice of licenses to use and on which to base new video game content.
