Fable II hits 1.5 million and adds new DLC

A day that Microsoft has been perhaps at various times starting to think would never get here has finally arrived. The Microsoft Xbox 360 has sold over 25 million units and has crushed the sales of the original Xbox. Microsoft was projecting that they would blow past the 25 million mark before the end of November, so the arrival of the announcement today gives the company a week to sell more consoles.

Microsoft was not saying what they project the next significant sales milestone will be for the Xbox 360 console, but they are saying that three-fourths of the sales of a console come at the $199 price point or lower. This does mean that Microsoft is gearing up to sell more units.

While many of us will have a special place in our hearts for the original Intel/Nvidia-powered Xbox, many spoke out harshly over Microsoft’s decision to move forward from the Xbox after a short four-year period. It took the original Xbox four years to reach 25 million in sales, while at the same time the Xbox 360 has been able to achieve the same thing in three years, but steep price cuts and an excellent game library have contributed to this.

Speaking of games, Lionhead Studios announced that they have reached the 1.5 million in sales marks for Fable II within the first two weeks of it being on sale. To celebrate, Lionhead announced that the first downloadable content will be making its way to the console shortly.

The new downloadable content will be titled, “Knothole Island” and will feature the unique twist of weather that is able to be changed by ancient artifacts found across the island. It will go for 800 Microsoft points when released. For your 800 points you will get three new dungeons and three new quests and a variety of other add-ons for your characters.

As a bonus, Lionhead will also be offering a free Fable II upgrade content pack that will add some new armor and consumables. However, the free content will only be able to be used if you purchased the Knothole Island downloadable content, according to Lionhead Studios.
