Buy in and save money on EA Sports titles

Several sources have been burning up our ears with a variety of talk about Electronic Arts looking at a possible “EA Sports Pass” that would be a subscription type membership that gamers could buy to save them money on all of the sports-oriented titles that the company releases that year.

The way that it is suggested that it would work is that you would go to your local video game retailers such as a Game Stop and purchase the EA Sports Season Pass for $19.99. Once you purchase the season pass, you would be able to buy new copies of all of the released EA oriented sports titles that are released that year for between $10 and $20 less than the normal retail price.

When we say “sports oriented” titles, the program would include games such as Fight Night, Skate, and Facebreaker that are not released each year like clock work. This would extend the variety and savings making it a much better deal for those that buy in.

From what we have been able to find out, although Electronic Arts is denying that they are working on the development of such a program, they do admit that they are looking at all types of options in they way that they sell their games. EA also claims that the image that is being circulated around the Internet suggesting a program like this is a fake.

No matter what EA is saying publicly, we do think there is a lot of value in such a suggestion of a season pass method to stimulate sales and pass savings on to the consumer. Many gamers cannot simply buy all of the sports games that are released annually each year with current title prices as high as they are. Many gamers either rent or buy used copies when the price drops of annual sports titles. A problem such as this could be just the ticket to increase sales of these titles for EA.

Our take is that it is likely that there is more truth here than fiction and if they can find the right partner it is likely that you will see something like this in the works sooner than later, as EA wants to increase sales on sports titles.
