Nintendo kicks the Wii out of Sony

Nintendo has taken the lead over Sony in market value as it elbows the PlayStation maker out of industry dominance.

According to Reuters, Nintendo is now one of the top ten most valuable Japanese companies. Nintendo shares were up 1.5 percent at while Sony continues to fall.

The main reason for Nintendo's rise has been the Wii game console which has outsold Sony's PlayStation 3 by three to one in Japan and by more than two to one in the United States.

Its DS handheld game player also far outstripped sales for Sony's PlayStation Portable.
