Verizon Tour 9630 to get an update

No OS 5.0, but 4.7.1.61 instead

Verizon Blackberry Tour owners will be happy to know that a new OS update has been released. The bad news is that it isn’t the version 5 OS update that you were hoping for, but instead version 4.7.1.61.

The update to 4.7.1.61 to an official release by Verizon will likely be the final release prior to the arrival of version 5.0 of the OS for the Tour. The update will be available via the desktop manager and the Smith Micro update site.

From what we have been told by those in red, the update fixes a couple of bugs and really isn’t that big of a deal if you are pleased with how your Tour is working now. However, some of our sources say that it addresses an issue with the Bluetooth and some response issues that might make it a worthwhile update if you are dealing with these problems. In addition, the update does seem to address some other glitches that in our opinion might make it a good choice to install until version 5 finally arrives.
