Should appear in September
Nokia is developing an Android-based smartphone, and it should show it
off to the world during the Nokia World conference in September.
Nokia accounts for about a third of the global smartphone market, but
so far it has used Symbian in the vast majority of its designs. The
shift to Android is a significant change for the company, which has
recently lost a sizable chunk of its smartphone business to Windows
Mobile phones and Apple's iPhone.
Going Android could help Nokia regain some lost ground, and there was
talk that Nokia will expand its product lineup following its recent
deal with Intel.
