The P5Q-E and the P5Q3 Deluxe

With just over a month to go until the official launch of the P45 chipset, it seems like the motherboard makers are close to having finalized their motherboards based on the chipset in question. Pictures and some fairly detailed information has appeared on Xfastest of two upcoming boards from Asus, the P5Q-E and the P5Q3 Deluxe.

We've written about these boards in the past, but we didn't have the detailed information available now. The P5Q-E appears to have been given the once over one more time, compared to the pictures we wrote about here. Not much has changed, though, and this might not yet be the final version.

The P5Q3 Deluxe is the more interesting board of the two, as it's the first DDR3 P45 board we've seen from Asus and there seem to be some differences beyond DDR3 support compared to the P5Q Deluxe. Most noticeable is the addition of 802.11n WiFi, but the power regulation for the chipset and memory has also been upgraded from two to three-phase.

Speaking of which, both of these boards will have no less than a 16-phase PWM, which seems to be completley over the top. In saying that, if these boards are anything but top overclockers, we'd be highly dissapointed, as the power should be as stable and clean as no other board before them.

Both boards also feature Express Gate, Asus' quick boot Linux on flash memory. Asus has also added a hardware RAID controller for two drives and some rear cooling plates for the MOSFET's. Both boards look crammed to the brim full of bits, but we suggest you head over and have a look at the pictures for yourself.

You can find the new P5Q-E pictures here, the ones of the P5Q3 Deluxe here and a slightly blurry comparison between the P5Q3 Deluxe and the P5Q Deluxe here.
