Has new heatpipe chipset cooler

Coolaler has got his hands on the upcoming Intel P45-based P45D3 Platinum from MSI, and among its new features is a re-designed chipset cooler which seems to have been designed to look somewhat like a motorcycle engine. It's also the first time we've seen a chipset cooler on an MSI board that features an external exhaust via the I/O shield.

The board itself looks pretty straight forward with a pair of x16 PCIe slots, although MSI has a pair of jumpers that enabled the second slot for Crossfire in dual x8 mode. However, it's only a pair of standard jumpers, so it's not too much of a hassle to switch over to dual slot mode. The board also has a pair of PCIe x1 and PCI slots. There's also a Molex connector for extra power to the graphics card slots.

This is a DDR3 board, and as such it has four slots for DDR3 memory, although we're not overly keen on the pink and baby blue slots. There's also eight SATA ports and an IDE connector with the rear I/O consisting of two PS/2 ports, six USB 2.0 ports, FireWire, Gigabit Ethernet and 7.1-channel audio with optical S/PDIF out.

You can find several detailed pictures of the board here
