Only for those that need 8 cores

HardOCP appears to be the first Website with a full-on review of Intel's Skulltrail platform and although it performs well, it's not the solution we've all been waiting for that will improve three and four card graphics card performance.

The bottom line is that unless you're running applications that can take advantage of the eight CPU cores, you needn't apply this time, as there are barely any games that take advantage of the extra CPU power. However, if you're a big fan of Microsoft's Flight Simulator X and have very deep pockets, then this might be what you've been waiting for.

There's a small performance improvement in Crysis and Lost Planet, but the rest of the game benchmarks shows little to no performance increase and some games are even slower than a system with an Nvidia 780i motherboard and a single Core 2 Extreme QX9770 compared to the pair of QX9775 CPU's used with the Skulltrail board.
