Coming later this year

With the motherboard market becoming somewhat stagnant with everyone adding more or less the same features to their motherboards, and with very few really exciting products turning it, it's good to hear that some companies are still willing to try something different.

DFI has decided to move into what so far is an untapped market, mATX motherboard for gamers. We're not talking high-end products will loads of extra bling, instead the company will be doing mid-range motherboards with support for SLI and CrossFire.

There will be boards for both Intel and AMD CPU's and Intel's upcoming P45 might be the first chipset that we'll see on a mATX board from DFI with the ability to use two graphics cards.

We're definitely looking forward to these new boards and we think they could become very popular with those that attend LAN parties regularly, as it would allow them to have quite a powerful system with them without the bulk and weight normally associated with a decent gaming PC.

We might even see DFI steal some market share away from Shuttle, as the company decided to cancel its new line of XPCs with space for two dual width graphcis cards.
