Samsung has rolled out two new SATA 3.0 drives, the EcoGreen F3EG in 1.5TB and 2TB capacities.

The disks feature 500GB platters, 16MB or 32MB of cache and they spin at 5400RPM. The disks feature Samsung's EcoTriangle technology and the company promises they use up to 40 percent less power than regular drives in idle mode and around 10 percent while active.

The drives also feature SilentSeek and NoiseGuard, which, coupled with the low RPM, should make them a bit quieter than plain 3.5-inch drives.

The 2TB EcoGreen is already shipping in Europe, starting at €128, while the 1.5TB unit should ship soon.
