OCZ is keeping the SSD hype up and has released a yet another drive with SLC NAND flash memory and Indilinx Barefoot controller combination, the Agility EX. OCZ has decided to go for the SLC memory in order to offer the best performance/lifespan ratio for the consumers, and that's exactly where SLC based drives shine.
The new Agility EX SSD will be available in 60GB capacity although OCZ did hint that higher capacities might be an option in the future. The drive features 64MB of on-board cache and read and write speeds of up to 255 and 195MB/s.
Just like any other OCZ solid state drive, the Agility EX is also backed
by three years of warranty. It has an MSRP of US $399, which means that
this might be the cheapest SLC-based SSD on the market, at least once
it start to appear in retail/e-tail shops.
