Chaintech was once a pretty decent motherboard manufacturer, but these days the company seems to focus more and more on its range of memory products and as such even steering away from its range of graphics cards.

The company is set to launch two new USB drives at CES, both which are quite different compared to your average USB drive. The first one is the Apogee Magic Capsule which allows you to expand your USB drive as it comes in sections and you can add up to five of these sections to make up a single drive. Each section will be available in 2, 4 and 8GB and if we're understanding things right, you can use all of the attached units as a single drive.

The Magic Capsule also comes with a security feature that is meant to prevent unauthorized users from accessing your data and it will also come with a pre-installed system backup application. We're not sure the Magic Capsule will be a big hit, but at least it's a novel idea.

On the other hand, the Apogee Sharemate might become a bit more popular, at least for those with the need to be able to copy data from a memory card to a USB storage device without a PC, or between two USB storage devices. The Sharemate features a built in 1.2in LCD display that allows you to use it without the need of a PC. It's powered by a AAA battery and it will function as a card reader when plugged into your PC.

No pricing has been revealed for either product, but both are expected to be launched at CES early next month.
