Computex 08: Nehalem has

Taiwan has spoken and it doesn’t look that AMD has sampled its Deneb 45nm quad-core. The word in Taiwan is that it might take some time before this happens. Intel, on the other hand, shows off Nehalem and it has already showcased and sampled all its major accounts.

Deneb should show its face in Q3 and it should be in volume production in Q4 2008, but this is again the best case scenario that might, or might, not happen. Deneb is first 45nms quad-core to hopefully ship in 2008 and this quad-core will feature 6MB of L3 cache memory.

With some luck AMD might get to 3GHz, but it looks that Intel can already do 3.2Ghz with Quad-core, eight thread Nehalem. The AMD picture is not particularly rosy and AMD’s Taiwanese manufacturers are not particularly optimistic that 45nm will come that soon.
