Computex 08: Existence questionable

AMD doesn’t even talk anymore about dual-core Phenom and you can easily tell that something went wrong there.

The second part of the story is that it maybe doesn’t make any financial sense for AMD to sell these CPUs, as it will probably hurt its Athlon X2 sales.

Phenom X3 8450 at 2.1GHz sells for close to €110 and you can simply imagine that Dual-core 65nm Kuma would simply have to be cheaper than that.

Since we already said that AMD doesn’t really plan to launch high frequency dual-core Kuma-based CPUs it won’t really price it under €100, as we don’t believe that it can make any money.

The future at this point is very uncertain, as AMD doesn’t even talk about dual-core Phenoms any more.
