It seems that Intel's latest Core i7/i5/i3 series
notebook processors are in short supply.
According to Digitimes it is because Acer, optimistic
about the upcoming demand for the related notebooks, has placed large volume of
orders for the beasts. Apple is also expected to follow suit and is almost
certain to have placed large scale orders.
While Intel expected the chips to do rather well, the
price of the flagship i7 was considered a bit off putting. Apparently Intel has had to ration the chips, and is
giving priority to major clients. Second-tier and smaller notebook players have to wait
much longer before receiving supply of the CPUs,
Digitimes claims.
