Intel has no plans for quad 32nm cores

At least not in 2010

According to the latest roadmap, Intel doesn't plan on releasing any 32nm quad cores in 2010. The quad-core roadmap is filled with either Nehalem or Lynnfield based 45nm quads and at this time, there are no any indications that 2010 will get a new 32nm quad.

First 32nm processor is days from introduction and this is a dual core 32nm with 45nm graphics on the same chip. In the later part of Q1 2010 Intel plans to release its second 32nm part, a six-core Gulftown, a high end extreme processor that will end up branded as Core i7 980X.

This CPU will remain the highest end Intel desktop CPU for 2010, at least that is the plan today, but if the company gets intimidated by AMD it could release a higher clocked six-core. To our knowledge, AMD doesn't have a winning hand in 2010 and Core i7 980X will most likely be the fastest clocked and the only six-core from Intel on market.

After 2010, in the next generation 32nm, quad core is definitely something that sounds highly likely.
