Dual-core mobile processors will remain the sweet spot for
price performance segment even in 2011. Quad cores for notebooks will increase
their market share, but they won’t become dominant anytime soon.
As part of Sabine notebook performance
platform AMD plans to introduce Llano in 2011. AMD doesn’t give many
details about
Llano, but it does say that you can expect that the notebook version
has two
cores, integrated GPU as well as DDR3 support. Llano will also debut in
a quad-core version, but it will mainly target some high end notebooks
and desktop replacement
systems, probably some All-in-one systems as well.
Furthermore, it's well known that performance segment Fusion, codenamed
Llano, is a 32nm processor and features a BGA package. Notebook version
should also come with APM boost technology, something we suspect is
AMD’s
version of Turbo on fly overclocking feature which would get AMD back
on
the competitive track, but again only in 2011.
