Will stop taking orders in January

Yesterday we wrote about Intel's second generation Atom launch plans, and today we found out that the N270 has some six months of life left.

Intel plans to issue a product discontinuation notice in the first week of January 2010, and it will stop shipping the N270 in March. At about the same time, it will introduce the replacement N450, a two chip platform that will enable netbook makers to come up with fanless designs.

As per Z-series parts, they could soldier on for a few months after N270 gets killed off, before being replaced sometime in Q2.
