Palm shareholders like new Centro

Value of troubled company soars

 

Troubled PDA maker Palm seems to have hit on a winner with its new Centro smartphone, at least as far as shareholders are concerned.

The Palm Centro is skinnier and lighter than its existing Treo cousins and costs 70 euro with a two-year service contract. Shares in the company increased by five per cent after the announcement.

Palm's Treo, which pioneered the smartphone market, was considered a bit past its sell-by date being too thick and expensive for most users.
