At today’s launch of Centrino 2 Intel promised that it plans to bring a quad-core notebook CPU in to the market within the next 90 days.
We already mentioned this CPU a while ago here, but we can repeat that Intel plans to brand this one QX9300 and that the CPU works at 2.53GHz and has a massive 12MB of cache.
With its 45W TDP it will fit in with the fastest notebooks and it will be more like a statement than a necessity, as it’s still tough to put quad-core in good use. It will be hot, but at least Intel can do it; but don’t expect that your games will run faster because you have a quad-core. However, if you are in movie / commercial industry and need to render something on your notebook, this chip is made from heaven for you.
The quad-core fits in Centrino 2 platform and needs a P45 or G45 mobile chipset, but we are sure that quad-core comes with a discrete graphics card.
