Some, but not volume

Almost everyone who wants to buy Atom CPUs has reported massive shortages that are expected to last through the rest of the quarter, but at the same time Intel is telling everyone that Atom 330, a dual-core Atom with 8W TDP, is still on schedule for Q3 2008 introduction.

The Q3 2008 has just started today and it will finish with the last day of September, so Intel has quite some time ahead for the introduction, but a Q3 2008 launch doesn’t actually mean that there will be many dual-core Atoms around.

As we managed to prove, Atom is not good for everything and even dual- core will have a tough time against low- end Celerons, especially in Video and multimedia encoding; and therefore, it will be interesting to see how the market accepts the desktop Atom.
