1160 to 1366 pins and IGP support

Nehelem,
as you probably have heard before, will have three sockets and we got some details on why Intel actually has three.

The first one is something we first time mentioned in late 2007 and it is the LGA 1366 or the first socket that will support Bloomfield CPUs. This is the first desktop CPU scheduled for launch in Q4 2008.

The other two sockets actually look quite alike, but they might be different after all. The LGA 1160 will accommodate Lynnfield and Clarksfield CPUs while there is an alternative LGA 1160 socket that can support Nehalem with an integrated GPU that will accommodate Havendale / Auburndale CPUs.

At this time we don’t have many details about their four new codenamed CPUs, but at least we know what Intel plans to plug into these sockets.

LGA1160 in both iterations is planned for 2009 introduction, while LGA1366 launches in Q4 2008.
