Takes Henri Richard’s place

After the departure of Henry Richard, the chap who worked as Executive Vice President and Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at AMD, his chair remained free.

The regional bosses of Europe, Middle East and Africa + India (EMEAI), Greater China and Asia Pacific have reported directly to Dirk Mayer, President and COO, the second in charge in AMD; but as of this week all these regional bosses will get a new middleman.

The new kid on the block is named Gustavo Arenas, and the chap has been with AMD for a few years now. He use to work as a Corporate Vice President, High Growth Markets, and as of this week, he was promoted to AMD’s Chief Sales Officer.

All the regional bosses will now report to him, while he reports to Dirk Meyer, President and Chief Operating Officer. Gustavo is also known by one of Hector’s ex-Motorola guys, but we’ve learned that he is one of Motorola’s good guys that managed to make a difference in AMD.

We wish him good luck at his new position.
