AMD to launch Phenom FX in Q1 2009

45nm Deneb FX

There is a chance that the 45nm star core codenamed Deneb FX might be AMD's chance to get back to the high-end market. This CPU is scheduled for Q1 2009 and we heard before that Deneb 45nm quad-core should be able to reach the speeds of at least 3GHz.

At that time Intel should be happily selling its quad-core Nehalem, the CPU that supports eight threads and might still end up faster than AMD’s FX offering, but at least AMD can get close to Intel’s performance crown.

The CPU has 6MB of L3 cache and it should be completely unlocked and overclocking friendly, since that is what FX usually stands for. AMD might brand this one as the Black edition, as it looks that this new brand worked quite well for AMD.
