Likely RV710 core

The chap from AMD Taiwan and his optimistic agenda made us work overtime and we managed to confirm that for the notebook market Fusion CPU codename Swift actually should make it for 2H 2009.

AMD previously said that Fusion might not make it in 2009, but we confirmed that this doesn’t affect the notebook part codenamed Swift.

Swift will have a single or dual-core CPU based on current architecture, so let’s say up to two Star 45nm cores and most likely RV710 graphics inside. The graphics part is still subject to change, but it looks quite realistic to see RV710 like graphics inside of this notebook CPU. In the worst case scenario Swift codenamed Fusion chip will have RV620-like graphics.

The RV710 idea will have to be modified from current 55nm to Fusion’s 45nm, but this can and will be done, at the earliest in late 2008 and most likely through the first part of 2009.

Therefore, the next notebook refresh after Puma is 45nm and some of the SKU’s will be based on 45nm CPU meets GPU Fusion, but, of course, this is iif all goes well.
