Ready drive and ready boost

The Montevina platform, something that you will start calling Centrino 2 very soon, will have support for bigger and better turbo memory marchitecture.

Currently Intel's Centrino platform with Santa Rosa supports 512MB or 1GB of Turbo memory that can improve Vista performance and the next generation platform, codenamed Montevina will be able to support 2GB Turbo memory.

Intel claims that it brings two marchitectures with 2GB turbo memory Ready drive and ready boost and we don't really know how efficient they are. We've found out that 1GB of turbo memory boosts performance of notebooks that have 1GB of RAM memory, but if you already have 2GB of real RAM memory 1GB doesn’t really do much good.

Intel plans to up this Turbo memory support to 4GB in the future, again with Montevina, but later this year.
