Back in March we reported that AMD was planning massive layoffs and Charlie has said they will affect five percent of the workforce, while we said it will affect as much as ten percent. ABC news has just confirmed that AMD has announced that it will fire ten percent of its workforce, or about 1,650 jobs at the beginning of this month.

AMD's Q1 was worse than expected, and it is expected that the company has dropped approximately 15 percent in sales from the previous quarter. Previous anticipation was that that the revenue will decline in line with seasonality, but obviously it dropped even more.
