Mobile quad-core in Q3

According to reports on both HKEPC and Digitimes, Intel will be launching its first quad-core mobile processor in Q3. The Core 2 Extreme QX9300 is expected to have a clock speed of 2.53GHz on a 1,066MHz FSB and it has no less than 12MB of L2 cache.

As always with Intel's Extreme range of processors, it demands a very high price and at US$1,038 each when ordered in quantities of 1,000 units a time, most people can only dream of owning one, not even taking the price of the laptop it will go into in consideration.

It has a TDP of 45W, which excludes it from a lot of notebook designs, so don't expect to see it in any of the thin and light models. Then again, anyone looking at getting this CPU is most likely going to want it in a high-end notebook with a discrete graphics card, anyhow.
