Sales of Windows
Vista are well behind Windows XP according to an NPD Group
report.
Standalone unit sales of Vista at US retail stores were down 59.7
percent compared with when Windows XP first launched.
Sales of
standalone copies of Windows Vista are down nearly 60 percent compared with
XP's first six months.
Microsoft told News.com that an analysis of boxed
copy sales is not representative of Vista's momentum. The company notes that
Office 2007 sales are double those of its predecessor during its first six
months.
That is not the way that NPD analyst Chris Swenson sees it. He
says that Vista is not doing well at retail stores. Most of Vista's growth
is coming when they buy the operating system on new PCs.
