Cedar-trail vs Pine-trail

We got
an interesting hint of upcoming Atom graphics performance. Of course, we are talking about Cedarview 32nm Atom that is scheduled to launch in late 2011.

Pineview, something that we call Atom 2010 will have graphics similar to the Atom 08 / 09 or N270, but Cedarview should be able to score more than two times better in 3Dmark06.

This is when you compare Cedarview 32nm 2011 Atom to early 2010 Pineview 45nm Atom. More importantly this will be the first Atom platform that will come out of Intel’s fabs that will be capable of playing decent HD including 1080p.

As of late 2011, Ion as a concept starts to become rather obsolete, but only if Nvidia fails to make CUDA and any other kind of GPU compute technologies important. They have roughly year and a half to succeed. If not Nvidia will have to go back to its old argument, Nvidia’s driver and hardware is much better for gaming, something that all should know by now.
