Acer's Gateway buy kills it

 

Lenovo's plan to buy Packard Bell will fail because its rival Acer's deal to by Gateway.

China's media says that the Gateway deal will mean that Acer will indirectly take control of Netherlands' Packard Bell.

This will prevent John Hui, a major shareholder of Gateway who bought Packard Bell from Japan's NEC last year, from selling Packard Bell to Lenovo.
