We expect that ATI will be able to ship its RV710 based cards by September 25th. It's preparing two versions of the card, a faster called Radeon HD 4550 with DDR3 memory and a slower iteration called Radeon HD 4350 that will use DDR2 memory.
The 4350 might actually launch in October, as it might not be ready for volume production by late September.
We heard that 4350 the slower of two should launch by October 13th with volume availability and this card will challenge Geforce 9400 cards and it is mainly an OEM card. This doesn’t mean that you won’t have them in the retail market as we expect it to be extremely affordable.
These two
cards will create a lot of headaches for Nvidia as they will make sure that ATI
wins every market segment from low end to high end, this time around.
