Scores P4939 in 3DMark 11
One of the users from hardwareluxx.de forum managed to get his hands on the HD 6970 card and in addition to a couple of photos, he has also posted some of the early benchmarks.

The card has a dual slot design with a blower-style fan and needs one 8-pin and one 6-pin PCI-Express power connector. The most interesting thing that can be seen on pictures is the small switch located near two Crossfire connectors, but we'll keep that one for a different news post.

According to the same user at hardwareluxx.de forum, the card scores P4939 in 3DMark11. According to the 3DMark11 screenshot, the HD 6970 was paired up with Phenom II X6 1055T CPU.

You can check out all of the pictures as well as the rest of the info here.

If fuad is the author of this article, expect you will see a nvidia entry in an AMD Radeon article.

Very nice performance and good looking card. Price/Performance should be real good, I'm getting one...

I've read somewhere else that these new radeons have great GPGPU computing capabilities than the last gen. Even it surpasses Nvidia's GTX 580 (computing wise).

Nice performance, even though it's coming from a refresh rather than a new (from the ground-up) architecture.

Are they still testing with 10.11 drivers?

Nuff said, wait for 10.12 and you'll see real performance.

The stock cooler looks like a brick, the GTX 570 cooler looks much better imo, that card has some angles. Still we are all about performance so in the end looks mean nothing.

Just wanted to note for the record that this card won't be remembered as the best looking one.

These ones that got out are not final.

Even so, how much of a change do you expect in the final driver from the beta?

They could just flip a switch on some optimizations and presto... didn't nv used to do that? Oh wait, they still do.

BTW, TPU has under-the-hood pics if anyone's interested.

5% more performance generally.
