HIS rolls out factory overclocked HD 6870

his

Works at 920MHz

HIS is one the first partners that has decided to roll out a factory overclocked HD 6870 card, the HIS 6870 Fan Turbo. Although it is still based on AMD's reference design and has a reference cooler, HIS decided that it is enough to keep the card running at a rather modest but still a factory overclocked settings.

The card works at 920MHz for the GPU and 4480MHz for the same 1GB of GDDR5 memory. Bear in mind that the reference card ended up clocked at 900MHz for the GPU and 4200MHz for memory. The card still packs 1120 Stream processors, a 256-bit memory interface, and support for AMD CrossfireX and Eyefinity. It has two DVI, single HDMI 1.4 and two DisplayPort 1.2 outputs.

We are quite sure that more partners will follow once AMD gives a green light for a non-reference/custom cooled cards. The new HIS is already listed in Europe for as low as €265.13. You can find it here.

I never understood these small factory overclocks. What's the point when you easily do it yourself and for much more too.

people are stupid and/or lazy, most people with computers dont know what a cpu/gpu/ssd is let alone overclocking/underclocking

Where are the proper coolers for these cards?

That is what i hate about AMD, they never let AIB make custom boards and coolers at launch. You have to wait like 6 months for all the good cards to come out with cooler, quieter and much better overclocking capabilities. By which time I’m getting all excited about the refresh or next gen so i never end up buying anything!!

why do we have to suffer those reference coolers?. I'd have 2 of these by now if non-reference cooling was allowed from the off...
How many other people feel the same?

I'm the same!, I'm stuck on a q6600 / 4870 512mb, because of the lack of competition / high prices / reference coolers etc... I'm not buying until I see revolution not evolution!

Lets hope Bulldozer/69xx is it!

wow. price is bit to big. I guess, this overclocked model will at least beat 5870.
