R600 is not loud

R600 is not louder than the X1950XTX. We can confirm this first hand as we heard it more than once.

It is not loud at least not louder than the Radeon X1950XTX. The big cooler doesn't rotate that fast and keeps the card cool at 800 MHz.

This is a hell of a task but the big cooper part is doing its job. Benchmarking R600 completely doesn’t make any sense as the driver is super immature and a lot of applications are crushing all the time.

The good news is that the super late R600 is not loud.

What does "a lot of applications are crushing all the time" mean? Is this slang?   The apps are crashing or what?

Yeah I guess it's supposed to be crashing. Also, shouldn't the title of the article be changed. "R600 is as loud as 1950 XTX" seems like it's the same or louder than a X1950XTX. But that aside, it's good to hear (no pun) that it's not going to be too loud.

What really matters is a comparison with G80 cards. G80 set new standards in low noise levels. It's no good if R600 is louder than that.

RD600 is a hot and a huge power consuming chip. (80nm)
wait for the RD650.. (the redesigned RD600 core) at 65nm.

People are tired of waiting for the "next card from ATI". Now R600 isn't out yet and people are already waiting for R650. This is sick! AMD/ATI looks more like a dying company every day.

AMD/ATI combination is not dying... Instead you must understand that the original design of the R600 is the effort of ATI, but it is not assisted with the AMD new 65nm manufacturing process. Even the NVIDIA also have the design problems..

It is not easy to become a top microprocessor engineer, and a successful design of the microprocessor and GPU is solely a team effort, not a personal efforts. Even Intel have their wrong design decision by adopting the RDRAM　solution which is prove RDRAM is a wrong move (not viable) before 2010.

Might be. If Crysis was already out, ATI would be dust as everyone would have long bought G80. But since there are no Dx10 games, most people are waiting.

Now when Crysis is out, both companies will have Dx10 cards and it'll be an even fight. May the better company win!
