October 10, 2011 — OSLO, Norway (AP) — The U.N. secretary-general called Monday for universal access to electricity by 2030, saying a lack of energy in parts of the world threatens economic growth and job creation.

Ban Ki-moon also urged governments and the private sector to pursue "a clean energy revolution," so that the use of renewable energy sources could be doubled in 20 years. "Such actions could help to revitalize the global economy (and) combat climate change," he said at an energy conference in Oslo, hosted by the Norwegian government and the International Energy Agency, IEA.

In a report released Monday, the Paris-based energy watchdog said 20 percent of the world's population has no access to electricity — 95 percent of whom live in sub-Saharan Africa or poorer parts of Asia.

Also, some 2.7 billion people are without clean cooking facilities, causing 1.5 million deaths annually from respiratory diseases, the report says. Korean-born Ban told the conference participants that he knows what it is like to live without electricity. He grew up without it during the Korean War in the early 1950s, so refrigerators and fans were unknown.

"I was a boy of war. I studied by candlelight," he said. The IEA report said investments to expand energy access had to be increased fivefold to $48 billion annually for electricity to be available for all by the target year.

The agency's chief economist, Fatih Birol, said providing electricity to everybody would have a minor impact on climate change because carbon dioxide emissions would increase by only 0.7 percent. Ban called for practical and large-scale action whereby governments would provide incentives that encourage more private investments in energy.

"The private sector must and can drive the energy revolution by investing in clean energy," he said. The two-day meeting that opened in Oslo on Monday is aimed at improving the availability of energy and financing power and light in the Third World. Around 360 delegates from 70 countries are in attendance.

This thread is intended to be a lead-in for a proposed tech update/grade to a new type of film that is reported to be a new invention to the likes of LCD screening material that generates electricity when light passes through.

supporting documentation is sparse and I will begin research to be reported here:

Exclusive! Exposure of the official successor to X79 X58 Specifications
Date :2011 -03-30 Author: Zhou Jing Source: IT.com.cn (IT World Network)

Today, we get a special channel for the desktop board from Intel's latest chipset Roadmap, exciting is that as the official successor to the X79 X58 impressively!

Since the end of X58 to 2008, for failure successor, leading to high-end Intel LGA 1366 interface has been no I7 platform with the new chipset. Intel in recent years, according to the habit of publishing the new structure there will be corresponding to the new chipset support, and X58 is to break the routine, and even lead to generation of the desktop version of the emperor i7-980X Extreme X58 only placing him on the situation.

Intel just released the chipset Roadmap

According to our get Roadmap, Intel will release the fourth quarter of this year to succeed X58 X79 chipset location, and the interface has been replaced by LGA 2011, which means that LGA 1366 processor on the i7 X58 is permanently locked in on.

980X Intel has released a successor - Core i7-990X Extreme, but based on the current exposure of X79, we conclude that the 990X will inevitably be a host that the emperor had abdicated cups.

i7-980X with the advanced age of the X58

Core i7-990X Extreme2 months after the release, has already begun on sale

Very lucky, we get the X79 preliminary specifications, although not in detail to the package and other parameters, but allows us to completely reveal the X79 has the veil off.
First exposure of the X79 specification sheet

X79 is supported by the processor before the rumors of Sandy Bridge E.

This brief, Sandy Bridge E for extreme enthusiasts, specifications and performance are published Sandy Bridge can not compare. Another new processors will use the new package interfaces LGA 2011 (Intel began to define the interface pins of the year? Oh, never Mind, just kidding!) , with four or six nuclear cores, larger cache (extra large cache ) to accelerate the application of single and dual-threaded, supports quad-channel DDR3 memory frequency up to 2666MHz and even higher, and many other enhancements.

In a document that prior to exposure, Sandy Bridge E platform is not integrated within the processor clock generator, but still using the traditional external approach, while SATA, USB and other bus frequency locked, so that will not Sandy Bridge platform, as there can not be over the embarrassment of FSB. But get this document from our point of view, Sandy Bridge E clock generator seems to still be built inside the processor, X79 support this frequency adjustment. For this we are not quite sure, would like to have further data to support. In addition, we are still unable to determine whether X79 is code-named Patsburg exposure before the new chipset.

X79 support 5GT / s of the PCIE 2.0 graphics interface, can be divided into two 4-way X16 or X8, USB2.0 been extended to 14. The biggest surprise in the SATA part, the largest native support for 14 SATA devices, including SATA 6Gb / s interface to reach 10, which can support eight SAS , which means you can use X79 to create individual workstations or even servers.

But also to remind you that although the document did not mention, but X79 support four-channel memory , and PCI X79 slot has been abandoned , if there are many PCI devices, and are willing to give up the Sandy Bridge E, high-performance, or recommended to choose X58.

X79 and Sandy Bridge E of further information we are still in the excavation, please pay close attention to our DIY channel.

Very nice article by Mr. Zhou Jing
