I have been asking myself the same question...
There does not seem to be any quick solution/answer.
When msi announced the Fusion P55 BB Motherboard the questions started thick and heavy.
I could not figure why there was only one MoBo builder with Lucid HYDRA 200 on board w/out
USB 3.0 AND SATA 3.0.
Then Intel announced that they were abandoning USB 3.0 for one DisplayPort connector Cable...
and... here we go again.
The only one reason that I found, now remember we are talking Intel, is complicated by a lack
of information from Intel. One thread that I followed was taken from the idea of an obscure

The Lucid HYDRA driver Engineers have not been able to complete the bridge to HYDRA from the 5970.
Their attempts to write a driver that will recognize the second GPU have failed and the last statement
