RV790: Why is there so much conflicting information?

All of the following have been mentioned on tech rumour sites like this one. Some are more plausible, but can anyone decipher this:
1. What IS it?
- A tweaked 55nm process so that it's RV770 but at higher core clocks?
- A tweaked 55nm process so that it's RV770 but with more shader cores?
- A new 55nm revision of RV770 with higher IPC?
- A straight shrink of RV770 to 40nm
- A shrink of RV770 to 40nm with more shader cores?
- A cost-saving revision that will have no impact on performance?
Fudzilla says 40nm, but a lot of credible sources say it is deliberately 55nm due to problems with large 40nm cards for both AMD and Nvidia. Some say a 40nm version is coming later; some say it'll wait until R8xx.
2. How fast is it?
- Core Clock: 750, 850, 900MHz or 1GHz?
- Memory Clock: 900 or 975MHz?
- Memory Type: "Old" or "New" GDDR5 revision? 1GB or 2GB?
- Has the IPC been improved? If so, is it +5% or +30%?
3. What is it called?
- RV775? RV775XT? RV790?
- HD4890? HD4995? HD5xxx?
4. When is it being launched?
- April 6th? Or "sometime after RV740"?

that's right everyone i'm doing whats right by the country by buying this card... i'm very patriotic

There is a bunch of conflicting info because Faud is wrong. Bookmark this and check back in a month or so. This is not a new chip. Count it. Better speeds and price however are a reality.
