1.5TB Barracuda to get a fix: Wednesday, 26 November 2008 05:47

Hi all. I want to purchase a new 1.5Tb drive but dont feel all that fuzzy about it after this article.
http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=10632&Itemid=67
And there hasnt been any updates after that either. I was thinking that maybe i should wait and hope for a new release of the drive but doesnt seem to be one planned.
Any news, suggestions, comments?

If you buy now 1.5tb drive you will get disk with new firmware, so you shouldn't experience any previously reported issues. My friend is running 6 x1.5 tb disks in raid without any issue.

Uh update:

Looks like they still have problems.... I don't like WD but this time maybe that is better option.
At seagate forum they are deleting problems regarding dying disks.

wow that's very disappointing as i've always used seagate drives and my 1T drive is still going strong, it's understandable to be embarrised but ignoring the situation and deleting comments on their own forum which really only attempt to gain a solution to some issues is just all kinds of bad

Jip. Always trusted Seagate but all the recent bad news. Not so sure anymore. Holding back on purchasing but thinking of making a switch to WD.

I have problems with my 1,5TB seagate hdd, its currently running ext2.
Any issues on how to fix this without formatting to NTFS?
I'm currently having the HDD in a mediacenter, and its having serious issues with the sata flow.
