The Foundry's 32nm prediction - Will it "certainly" be behind Intel schedule?

News reporters just LOVE to run around and sprout nonsense. While it claims that you need so many bilions for each new fab and that intel will have a new fab, etc, it completely fails to observe that the 45nm immersion litography process can be upgraded to 32nm in a similar fashion that the graphics industry uses - that is - without replacing all the equipment, just fine-tuning and using finer masks.

And now Fudo found out that the 45nm factory will also manufacture 32nm SOI CPUs.

Contrary to our previous report, The Foundry Company will do Silicon on insulator in 32nm manufacturing process. We believed that SOI stops at 45nm. The Foundry Co. boys will continue to use SOI for its CPUs in the new 32nm FAB as this is the way to go, at least this is what company sources have told Fudzilla.

Surprise! It was ALL in the news The Foundry announced during their very first day of existence.

Next time will Fudo be surprised that AMD will introduce 32nm SOI CPUs on time, or ahead of shedule, writing: "we did not expect that"
