Is it Worth it?

Hey im new on here but ive been visiting Fudzilla for ages and i love it!
But this is my question....
32bit Vista can only have 2gb of ram but surely the need for memory is increasing as with the x58 it has tri ddr3 making it up to 24gb of ram maximum.
So my question is, is it worth it to upgrade to 64bit and increase my memory to something like 4gb? Only thing that is stopping me is that software support isnt like with 32bit as 64bit has compatibility issues with some programs etc.
Is there still a big gap between them that would make 64bit a pain to have?

well most people actually get to see about 3.6-3.8g worth of memory on 32 bit Vista even if you memory map your mobo to try and detect it (you'll definately need to do this if you have a snadwhiched card such as 9800 GX2) thats the limit. And yes while 64 bit allows you to have the memory there's not a whole lot of things you can do with it. Just out of any interest does anyone game on a 64 bit OS of Vista caus every time i check the minimum system requirements of a game it says 32 bit XP or Vista ONLY?

so your saying 4gb on a 32bit would work but only something like 0.2 of it wont. To do this do you have to memory map it, as you said? i have no idea what memory mapping is btw.

it basically detects memory that hasn't yet been detected but yeah out of a 4g kit youll only see 3.7-3.8 g of it which is good enough i guess. Also a mate of mine just installed 64 bit Vista and has had massive issues with gaming. Dont know if anyone else does it but he cant get assasins creed to go full screen? He looked it up and now he just hits alt+something to fix it but cmon how annoying would that be?
